GROOVE TIME is a high energy dance band made up of 7 highly experienced, talented and seasoned musicians who have been performing together , pleasing audiances and packing the dance floors for 7+ years, pumping out what we consider the best 70s, 80s, and 90s dance music.

GROOVE TIME has and continues to perform at top clubs,

private engagements, fairs, festivals, charity fundraising events and concerts throughout Connecticut and the tri-state area including Foxwoods Casino, Mohegan Sun Casino, Caesars Boardwalk Casino in Atlantic City, Harrah's Casino Resort in Atlantic City and The Pocono Palace Resort in Pennsylvania.

Tommy (Stixey) Szymkuc: C ousin to the late great Chick Szymkuc, has been around the music seen in Connecticut and beyond for more years than he cares to mention. Starting at the age of 15, Tommy performed with his cousin Chick and their 9 piece horn band, known in the Bridgeport area as "Corporation". After "Corporation " they formed a duo called TNT (Ted and Tom) or (Tom and Ted) depending on who you asked. After "TNT" they continued to play together with the band "Exclusive " and later formed their own "QUIK" band.

Since then, Tommy has played with many local and touring bands and also shared the stage with artists like Sister Sledge, Evelyl King, Donna Summer and George Benson, to name a few. Prior to GROOVE TIME, Tommy was the beat behind PartyLine for 14 years. An "in the pocket", poppin' groove type player, he is the newest member of GROOVE TIME and we welcome him aboard.

Dominic (Finger Ease) DeLucia: – Dominic is a self-taught bass player who has been in the New Haven music scene for 30 years. Dom worked as a full-time road musician and has recently decided to stay closer to home, which is great news to Groove Time! Dom’s musical influences of Motown, Funk, and Jazz set the foundation for Groove Time’s distinctive groove. He also plays upright bass, which adds a sophisticated tone to the group’s more standard tunes.

Mark (The Doctor) Kaplan: Mark, a longtime luminary among premier saxophonists, brings his seasoned and driving sound to Groove Time. He has played with numerous top bands throughout New England, and on countless studio sessions. Stylistically, moving effortlessly from Grover Washington to Junior Walker to Stanley Turrentine, Mark’s playing has garnered rave reviews for over 30 years.

George (Twang) Pich: – Whether grooving on funky guitar rhythms or tearing through a lead solo, George moves effortlessly between Rock, Jazz, and Blues. With a background ranging from classical to R&B, he brings a tremendous variety of styles and flavors to each performance. George has been playing for 35 years, and has enjoyed gigs with groups such as Twist of Fate, Just Add Water, Hush, Affair, Pure Pleasure, and now Groove Time.

JACK

Jack (The Professor) Congo : – A professional musician and music educator for over 30 years, Jack has performed with many top name groups in the New Haven area during that time. These groups included Johnny Parris and Tension, Brotherhood, and most recently the Glamour Girls. A classically trained pianist, Jack also brings a great deal of experience to Groove Time in performing the music of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s and lends his talent to background vocals as well.

KEVIN

Kevin Cameron: Lead Vocals/Trumpet/Keys - Kevin is a multi-talented musician with extensive experience in R&B, Funk, Classic Rock and Soul. Originally from Bridgeport Connecticut Kevin spent 1978 thru 1992 living in Atlanta, Ga and performing with some of the top R&B/Funk bands in that area including The SOS Band, Brick, and Maggabrain to name a few. Upon returning to Connecticut, Kevin formed his own band "Top Dead Center" and has performed throughout the Northeast. Now Kevin brings his talents to Groove Time and we welcome him to the line-up.

Penny

Penny Vastakis: grew up in CT and began performing in musical theater at a young age. Shows she performed in include CAROUSEL‚, SHOW BOAT,‚ CRAZY FOR YOU‚, THE WIZARD OF OZ‚ and FAME. She moved to Greece in 2005 and began singing in an r&b band called WHITE CHOCOLATE. In 2008 she auditioned for X-Factor and made it on to the show. For the next few years she performed all over Greece with a variety of different bands: WHITE CHOCOLATE‚ in which she continued performing with; SOUL BOX‚ an acoustic blues and r&b group; REMAKE BAND‚ a pop and r&b band; FUNCODE‚ a dance and funk band; EXTRAVAGANZA‚ a dance/show band; and DUSTY GROOVE‚ a funk and r&b band. In 2011 she moved back to CT and joined GROOVE TIME BAND.
